I go to the genealogy page and search for my relatives and it gives me a list and if i try to get more information it says i have to subscribe to that site to get more information. I signed up and paid to use this site for research not to connect me to other sites im supposed to pay for also.
Hi Jessica, Give the RAOGK web site a try. You choose your volunteer where you need them.The only cost is their expenses. I have a guy whose has worked wonders for me in the US and refuses any form of compensation. Good Luck. John
Jessica, I understand that your new but try this. check for smart matches to what you know already it can lead you to wealth of information. Also when you use the research button it searches billions of sites and gives you a list some are pay for and some r free. look at the boxes and it will show a $ sign if its paid for . the smart match feature is a free search of all the my heritage sites from everywhere and youll be surprised what that may get you for information. If you haven't downloaded the family tree builder i would sugest that, and the family toolbar because it helps you connect back to your site. the tree builder lets you input new information easily and then uploads it to your site. Another great free source of information is https://www.familysearch.org/ it lets you search and see all information like census reports death births marriages etc. Some of the sites like ancestry.com will tease you but not allow access unless you sign up. the website I gave you is probably my best resource right now. I am trying to do research. My question is as follows:
from my home page I click on the genealogy tab, then I clock on the research tab, then under the research tab, I typed in Alexander Steele and then clicked search. I got a screen that blinked and then I came up with a screen that has an Install now box. When I click on the install now box nothing happens. I do not get a yellow bar on my screen. Any suggestions on how to get around this.
If you dont get the yellow bar for the download check to see if you are blocking pop ups. sometimes that will prevent it from downloading. hope this helps.
The yellow bar you need to right click and and select to allow the download. It is an app to help your search work. If you have downloaded the family tree builder to your computor and the family toolbar then you will be able to research and auto update your site too! Hope this helped.
I agree with Lewis. There is no yellow bar and when I do research , when it's my own parents and I know the dates, nothing comes up - do you actually have to subscribe to myHeritage to do all this???? are there no free sites out there in genealogy world?
